How to read a Cube name
A Cube name always reads in the same order. Here is a real example from our catalogue:
KATHMANDU the family — here premium trekking
HYBRID the bike is electric (Bosch motor)
SLX the equipment level — here very high
800 the battery capacity, in Wh
Equipment levels, from accessible to top
ONE and Pro (good value) → Race and EX / EXC (solid mid-range, durable components) → SLX (high end) → SLT (the peak, pro level). TM marks mountain bikes optimised for descending.
Frames
HPA: hydroformed aluminium. HPC: carbon main frame, rear triangle often aluminium. C:62 and C:68X: full carbon, the number showing the fibre content — C:68X is the lightest and the most expensive.
Useful suffixes
Hybrid: electric bike. FE (Fully Equipped): supplied with mudguards, rack, kickstand and lights. Allroad: the same idea on a gravel or road bike. 45: speed pedelec, assistance up to 45 km/h. Rookie: the child or junior version of an adult family.
Riding in town and getting to work
Short trips, traffic lights, parking, stairwells: what matters here is ease, not performance.

At Cube the number after the name is the wheel size in inches: 160 for 16 inches, 240 for 24 inches. You choose on the child's height, never on their age.

Three questions are enough
In the shop, we only need three answers to point you at the right family.
Where do you ride, most of the time? +
This is the question that rules out the most options. City and cycle paths: Editor, Nulane, Supreme, Town. Country roads and packed tracks: Touring, Kathmandu, Nature, Nuroad. Forest tracks and trails: Nuride, Reaction, Stereo. The rest (Fritzz, TWO15, Aerium) answer very specific practices.
What distance, and how often per week? +
Under 10 km per trip, almost anything works. Beyond that, electric assistance changes the nature of the journey — and battery capacity becomes the number to watch: 400 to 600 Wh for urban use, 800 Wh for long distances or hills. Past 20 km, a speed pedelec (Kathmandu Hybrid 45) becomes a genuine alternative to the car.
Do you need to step over the frame easily? +
A hugely underrated comfort criterion, and a decisive one. A low frame (Supreme, or the Comfort and Easy Entry versions of the other families) is mounted without lifting a leg over the saddle — useful long before the age when people think they need it, especially with a child seat or loaded panniers.
Can I test ride before buying? +
Yes, and we strongly recommend it as soon as several thousand euros are involved. Cube is stocked in our Liège shop, Quai de Rome — that is where test rides take place. Tell us the model and your size and we will have the bike ready.
