It is important to take into account the waiting times that vary depending on the season. In low season, these deadlines are short, generally 1 or 2 days. On the other hand, in high season, there can be more than 3 weeks of waiting. Thus, it is strongly recommended to have your bikes maintain preventively during the low season. This will allow you to benefit from shorter deadlines and avoid possible prolonged expectations during the high season. Taking care of your upstream bike will also allow you to take full advantage of your walks without having to undergo too long waiting times. By planning the maintenance of your bikes during the low season, you ensure better availability of services and greater responsiveness from professionals. So do not hesitate to anticipate and take care of your bikes for a more pleasant and serene practice throughout the year.

At the crankset, yes: we remove one chainring, the front derailleur and its shifter. But if the original cassette stays (an 11-34, for instance), you lose the small chainring without gaining anything at the back, and the bike climbs worse than before. A proper conversion also needs a wider-range cassette and a rear derailleur that can handle it. It needs costing: talk to the KAMEO workshop before removing anything.

With a single chainring, yes, and it is simple: we swap the chainring for a smaller one (for example from 44 to 40 teeth), adjust the chain, and all your gears become about 10 % easier. One part and a workshop visit are enough. With a double chainring it is far more limited: very few chainring pairings exist, the gap between them is restricted and the cassette cannot go beyond 36 teeth, so the only real answer is often a different bike. Talk to our workshop before changing anything.

Rain is not a problem: the components are sealed and SRAM states IP69K certification for its AXS system, meaning it withstands high-pressure water jets. In practice it copes with a Belgian winter better than a mechanical cable, which corrodes unseen inside its housing. Drivetrain maintenance is still essential, though: electronics remove cable adjustment, not wear on the chain, cassette and chainrings. Cleaning, lubrication and chain-stretch checks remain necessary, and our workshop takes care of them during your services.

With wide tyres, pressure is what delivers most of the comfort. With 32 mm tubeless tyres, you can run noticeably lower pressure than with a 25 mm tyre and inner tube, without risk of pinch flats, gaining comfort and grip on rough roads. The right value depends on your weight and the kind of roads you ride. Drop by our Liège or Brussels workshop: we will set the pressure with you.

The one part you must not forget is a spare derailleur hanger: it is specific to each frame model, impossible to find on the road, and without it a simple fall can end the trip. Also worth carrying: - a comprehensive multi-tool, tubeless plugs and glue, - chain links and spare brake pads, - spare batteries if you have electronic derailleurs, - cable ties and some cord. Our workshops in Liège and Brussels are happy to go through your kit list with you before you leave.

On loaded bikes coming back from trips, what our workshop sees most often is torn tyre sidewalls, broken drivetrain parts and worn brakes. Preparing a bike for this kind of ride means anticipating that wear: have the tyres, drivetrain and brakes checked before you leave. On rough terrain, wide tyres and low gearing are also a real asset. The KAMEO workshop works on all brands, not just the ones we sell: book a slot for a service before you set off.

Yes. 26-inch tyres and inner tubes are still easy to find. The choice is more limited for complete wheels and high-end forks, as 26 inch disappeared from new bikes between 2013 and 2017. If your bike still rides well, our Liège and Brussels workshops can service it without any problem.

It depends on how you use it. For moderate use, one service a year is usually enough; for intensive daily use, plan several services a year. Washing your bike regularly also reduces wear between services. The KAMEO workshop in Liège and Brussels can advise you on a schedule that suits your riding.

KAMEO Bikes is working on connecting its myKameo system to Bosch eBike Flow data to offer three services: preventive maintenance alerts when your bike nears a mileage or usage threshold, a bike health record that updates automatically (mileage, battery condition, service history), and certified mileage to make resale easier. The rollout will be gradual, starting with customers on a maintenance contract, in which the basic monitoring will be included. Let us know in store or by email if you would like to be told when it launches.

Yes, noticeably. With a mid-drive motor, all the torque goes through the chain: an e-MTB chain wears two to three times faster than on a non-electric bike over the same distance. That is why the KAMEO workshop checks chain stretch at every service. Replacing the chain in time avoids having to replace the cassette as well.

Yes, if the bike is kept outside or in an unheated garage. Cold temporarily reduces range, and long storage at low temperatures is not good for the battery cells. Bring it indoors, store it at around 30 to 60 % charge, and fully recharge it before your first spring ride.

Four conditions apply: - a first service between 3 and 6 months after purchase (or at the latest at 1,000 km), then a service every year; - these services must be carried out in KAMEO workshops; - normal use: no competitive use, and the battery stored and used according to the manufacturer's recommendations; - a limit of 5,000 km per year, or 25,000 km in total; beyond that, the warranty ends. Please let us know promptly as soon as you notice a problem. To book a service, contact our Liège or Brussels workshop.

The warranty covers the main components of the electrical system: the motor, the battery, the display and the electronics. If there is a manufacturing defect, they are repaired or replaced free of charge. Wear parts are not covered: tyres, chain, brake pads, cassette, cables and housings. For the battery, cover for a confirmed defect is gradual: - 100% in years 1 to 3; - 85% in year 4; - 75% in year 5. Battery use and storage must follow the manufacturer's recommendations.

The principle is the same as on a conventional bike, but the frequency changes. A mid-drive motor's torque works the chain far harder than legs alone, so it wears faster. If you ride a lot with assistance, have the chain elongation checked roughly every 1,500 km: a two-minute check that saves you replacing the cassette along with the chain. Our workshops can carry out this check when you drop by.

No, in both cases. A multi-purpose penetrating spray such as WD-40 cleans and drives out moisture, but does not lubricate durably: you need to apply a proper chain lubricant afterwards. Motorbike chain grease is far too thick for a modern bike chain: it traps dust and turns the drivetrain into grinding paste. Our team can recommend the right lubricant for how you ride.

KAMEO offers a free warranty extension of up to 5 years on electric bikes with a Bosch or Shimano motor, bought in our Liège and Brussels shops or online. It comes on top of the standard component warranty. In return, your bike must follow a regular servicing programme in our workshops: a well-maintained bike stays reliable for longer, and small issues are caught early. Our mechanics are trained on Bosch and Shimano systems.

It is the signal that there is no lubricant left in the chain's pins, and that is when wear accelerates most: a dry chain wears out within a few dozen kilometres. Dry it, wipe it and re-lubricate it the same evening. With a thin oil or a wax, a single ride in a heavy downpour is enough to wash everything away; if you often ride in the rain, a thick (wet) oil is better suited.

Yes, but never by putting wax over the oil. Wax only bonds to bare metal: on a chain that is still greasy it flakes off within a few rides and the result is worse than before. A full degrease with solvent comes first, in several baths, until the liquid runs clear. The same applies to a new chain, whose factory grease must come off before the first waxing. Our Liège and Brussels workshops can prepare your chain: full degrease, first wax coat and a quick link fitted.

It mainly depends on the weather you ride in and how much time you are willing to spend on it: - Thick (wet) oil: you ride every day, in all weathers, and want to think about it as little as possible. Ideal for a daily commuting bike. - Thin (dry) oil: you mostly ride in dry weather and want a clean drivetrain without removing the chain. - Wax: you ride a lot of kilometres and do not mind a small maintenance routine. It is the option that wears the chain and cassette the least. The efficiency difference between them is negligible; the real difference shows in drivetrain wear.

Yes. The Multicharger3 uses standard Bosch and Riese & Müller components, which our workshops service and repair. A new generation coming out changes nothing for the maintenance of the previous one.

Not durably. The sidewall is the most flexible part of the tyre: it deforms with every wheel revolution and reopens any repair, and neither sealant nor a plug will do. On the spot, fit a boot behind the cut and an inner tube, and ride home at moderate speed. After that, the tyre must be replaced: a repaired sidewall giving way on a descent is not a risk worth taking.

No. A well-fitted plug often lasts for the rest of the tyre's life, and you leave it in for as long as it holds. Just trim flush whatever sticks out on the outside so it does not get torn off. Removing it reopens a hole the sealant may not close again. A plug in place also does not stop you fitting a spare inner tube if needed.

Every six months, or at every tyre change. Sealant dries out by evaporation, faster in summer and on thin, high-pressure tyres, and dry sealant repairs nothing. To check, shake the wheel next to your ear: if you hear no sloshing, there is no liquid left. Our workshop can check your sealant, rim tape and valves for you.

Follow a set order, from the simplest fix to the heaviest, without skipping a step: - Let it work: turn the wheel so the hole is at the bottom and wait; sealant closes holes of up to about 6 mm on its own. - Reinflate: without pressure, the sealant cannot get into the hole. - Push a plug into the hole from the outside, without removing the tyre. - Glue a tubeless patch inside the tyre (really a workshop repair). - As a last resort, fit an inner tube to get home. Most punctures are sorted at the first or third step. A sidewall tear or a dented rim goes straight to the inner tube.

A little, yes: a single chainring takes all the effort, and the chain runs at an angle more often at the ends of the cassette. The difference shows mainly in chainring lifespan. Regular cleaning and lubrication matter far more, however, than the choice between a single and a double.
