This Thursday 26 November, KAMEO Bikes takes you on a night gravel / MTB ride from Liège. Lights on, we head for the Ourthe valley, the Roche aux Faucons and the Sart-Tilman woods, before heading back to the shop for a well-earned drink.

The route starts at the confluence of the Ourthe and the Meuse, a stone's throw from the shop, and follows the valley on cycle paths before taking to the tracks. Halfway round, we pass the Roche aux Faucons viewpoint over the Ourthe meander, then the Mare aux Chevreuils in the heart of Sart-Tilman, before heading back down to Liège.
Varied terrain: roughly half on roads and cycle paths, the other half on tracks, compact gravel and a few cobbles. The climbing comes in three steady ascents, the longest being 3.4 km. A demanding ride, especially at night: you need good fitness, or an e-bike to help you along.

Our tips before you go
- Lights: a powerful front light that really lights up the track in the woods, and a rear light. No lights, no start.
- Charged batteries: for your lights, and your bike if you ride electric.
- Dress warmly: gloves, a warm layer and a windproof jacket, it cools down fast in the evening. Something reflective is a plus.
- Check your bike: tyre pressure and brakes. Bring a spare tube and a small pump.
- The right bike: gravel or MTB, with wide tyres. A road bike isn't suited to the tracks and cobbles on this route.
- Download your track: get the GPX from Komoot before Thursday, signal can be patchy in the woods.
