Description
The ABUS CliffHanger MIPS blush red is the flagship trail model in the ABUS MTB range, in its Mips-equipped version — the helmet for demanding singletrack and enduro. 350 g in size M, for a head circumference of 54 to 58 cm.
Mips (Multi-directional Impact Protection System) is a thin plastic shell between the inner padding and the energy-absorbing shell. It counteracts rotational forces in an angled fall; ABUS states it can reduce energy by up to 40 percent in the event of an oblique impact. The cost: 25 g over the non-Mips CliffHanger.
Everything else is the same. The inner shell of EPS hard foam is foamed into a three-part outer shell, the Acti Cage reinforcement stiffens the whole and creates room for large vents, and the lower edge protection takes scratches, impacts and wear. The peak is height-adjustable with locking positions, against hanging branches and the sun, and the magnetic FIDLOCK buckle opens one-handed, even with gloves on.
Fit comes from the dedicated MTB adjustment system and the Zoom™ Spin dial, with a Ponytail Fit opening, a flat fixed-position Trivider™ divider, removable washable Velcro-mounted Comfort Pads and a half ring. Worth knowing: this is not a full-face helmet (no chin bar) and it has no light. For adults.
