Abus HYP-E midnight blue

The Abus HYP-E is a helmet built for urban commuters riding e-bikes, including speed pedelecs. It meets the NTA 8776 standard, which means it is designed to withstand higher-impact crashes than standard cycling helmets — with thicker EPS foam and reinforced protection around the temples and the back of the head. The polycarbonate outer shell wraps around the lower edge of the helmet, adding protection against side impacts and scuffs.

The standout feature is the fully integrated lighting system built directly into the shell: front light, rear light and LED turn signals are all embedded in the structure itself. Six lighting modes (Steady, Power, Flow, Pulse, Flash, Eco) let you adjust visibility to suit conditions. Turn signals are activated via a wireless OXI 2.4 GHz handlebar remote, which is included and rechargeable via USB-C — as is the helmet. An audible click — similar to a car indicator — provides confirmation each time the signals are triggered.

Day-to-day usability has been carefully thought through: the Fidlock magnetic buckle lets you fasten or release the chin strap with one hand, the Zoom™ Spin dial at the rear adjusts the fit (with a ponytail-compatible opening), and the 3 VentCover vents at the front can be opened or closed depending on the weather. The inner padding is removable and washable. Available in size L (57–61 cm), Midnight Blue, weighing 610 g.
