The ABUS Targon MIPS is a modular full-face mountain bike helmet: a removable chin guard and Mips padding let it deliver maximum protection downhill, then free up airflow on the climb once the guard is off. At the heart of it is the Speed Latch System™: the chin guard comes off and goes back on quickly, without tools, without jamming or jerking. Carry it on your arm or handlebars on the way up, then reattach it at the top and descend with full head and face protection. Without the guard, the Targon is a lightweight, well-ventilated half shell for trails and transfers; with it, it's a full-face for the bike park and demanding sections.

On safety, the Mips padding reduces rotational forces in a crash, and the Breakaway Visor — a high-quality peak that shields against sunlight and hanging branches — can detach in a fall to minimise strain on the neck. The helmet meets the ASTM F1952-22 standard, an additional test designed specifically for downhill helmets, alongside EN 1078 (Europe) and CPSC (US and Canada) certification. The polycarbonate shell covers the lower edge to protect it against scratches and impacts.

Fit is dialled in to the millimetre with the Zoom™ Rapid Fit system — a dial connected to a nylon cable with a steel core, which returns to its original position at the press of the dial. The Vario Pads, the cheek pads, adjust to three positions via a slide-and-lock mechanism for a secure, comfortable fit in full-face mode. Add Comfort Pads attached with Velcro, removable and washable pads, a Goggle Fit area under the peak to hold goggles so they don't slip, a Front Eyewear Port at the front for glasses, and a magnetic chin buckle.

Made in Italy, in ABUS's own production facility: the Targon is the brand's first mountain bike helmet in the "Made in Italy" series. Suitable for teenagers and adults.
