Abus WingBack velvet black

The ABUS WingBack velvet black is a road helmet with a stripped-back style: nothing to adjust, nothing to charge — put it on and ride. 240 g in size M, for a head circumference of 54 to 58 cm.

Beneath its winged design it borrows from the brand's performance helmets: deep ventilation channels, thin struts and a separation edge at the rear. The shell combines polycarbonate and expanded polystyrene through the in-mould process — the foam is expanded directly into the shell, which gives that very light look at 240 g.

The straps are stitched (FlowStraps) and need no divider: they sit close to the face, do not flap in the wind and gain in aerodynamics. Fit is adjusted with the Zoom™ Spin dial at the back of the head, on a half ring, with a Ponytail Fit opening for a ponytail, bun or braids. A three-pronged push-in buckle closes it, with Velcro-mounted Comfort Pads, removable and washable.

Worth knowing: ABUS classes it as both a road and a gravel helmet. No Mips, no peak, no visor, no light and no lower edge protection — a deliberately minimalist helmet.
