Description
The Garmin Speed Sensor 2 tracks your riding speed without any magnet on the wheel. It attaches directly to the front or rear wheel hub with a simple strap — installation takes a couple of minutes and leaves your bike completely unmodified.
With dual ANT+ and Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity, it pairs simultaneously with a Garmin head unit, a smartphone, and third-party apps like Zwift or Strava. If you head out without your phone or device, the sensor keeps working independently: it stores up to 300 hours of speed and distance data internally, ready to sync to Garmin Connect (iOS & Android) when you're back.
Power comes from a standard CR2032 coin cell that lasts roughly 12 months at an hour of riding per day. No charging cables, no docking stations — just pop in a new battery when it runs out. The IPX7 rating means it can handle submersion in up to one metre of water for 30 minutes, so wet weather rides are no concern.
A built-in odometer function keeps a running total of kilometres ridden, which can help you time routine maintenance like chain replacements or brake checks — useful whether you commute daily or ride on weekends.
