The Ortlieb Messenger-Bag 39 L is a no-nonsense urban cycling bag designed for riders who use their bike every day, in every condition. At 39 litres (50 × 39 × 15 cm) and 1,300 g, it carries everything you need without slowing you down. The shell is made from PD620 / PS620C coated polyester — a tough, tarpaulin-style fabric — giving the bag an IP64 rating for resistance to water splashes from any direction and full dust protection. The roll-top closure with velcro fastener lets you adjust the loading height to match how full the bag is, while keeping the contents reliably sealed without a zip that could let water in. The carrying system is built for comfort over longer distances: anatomically shaped, contoured shoulder straps with ventilated foam back panel, plus a chest strap and waist belt to keep the bag stable at speed. Protective corner pads on the base guard the bag when you set it down repeatedly throughout the day. A laptop compartment is not included but is available as an optional accessory compatible with 2023 and later models.
