Description

The Tern Sidekick Flat Bars are a flat handlebar for your rear passenger: they give them something solid and comfortable to hold on to, so they stay steady through sudden stops, bumps and corners — rather than clinging to your waist. It mounts on the seatpost, and you then set the height and angle that suit your passenger.

Ergonomic grips keep things comfortable over time, and a 4/5/6 mm Allen key is built in for roadside adjustments and small repairs. The bars fit seatposts 30.9 to 34.9 mm in diameter, weigh 0.644 kg and are made of aluminium.

Compatible with the GSD (Gen 1, 2 and 3), HSD (Gen 1 and 2), Orox Gen 1, Quick Haul Gen 1, Quick Haul Long Gen 1 and Short Haul Gen 1. On the Orox, Tern recommends them for taller riders only.

Good to know: this product is part of the Tern Passenger System — further accessories are required to carry a passenger safely, see Tern's passenger guide. The bars are intended for a passenger around 130 cm or taller who can sit unaided. Note that a lower saddle height can affect the position of the seatpost-mounted bars.

The child sits on a saddle-style seat fitted with a soft, water-resistant cushion, underneath which is a hip belt. Non-slip footrests make getting on and off easy and provide grip during the ride. The seat is foldable: fold it down when you ride without a passenger. It mounts on a standard luggage rack between 120 and 175 mm wide and is also suitable for electric bikes.
