The Riese & Müller Charger5 Pinion HS is a Speed Pedelec built for riders who cover serious distances daily and want to arrive quickly without breaking a sweat. Electric assistance kicks in up to 45 km/h, placing it in the speed pedelec category — in Belgium this requires registration and a helmet, but in return you get a genuinely fast cruising speed both in the city and on open roads.
The drivetrain centres on the Pinion E1.12 Speed MGU, a unit that combines the electric motor and gearbox into a single mid-mounted block. This keeps the centre of gravity low and pairs with a Gates Carbon Drive CDX belt — no chain, no lubrication, no rust. The 12-speed system covers a 600% gear range, and the Pinion TE1 electronic shifter lets you switch between manual and automatic modes depending on how you prefer to ride.
The FIT BAT Tubepack 800 Wh battery sits neatly inside the polished-weld aluminium frame. For even longer journeys, an optional Bosch PowerMore 250 Wh range extender can be added under the top tube. The Fox AWL 34 fork with 100 mm of air travel takes the edge off broken tarmac, and Magura MT4 hydraulic disc brakes deliver consistent stopping power in all conditions.
Practical features include a MIK HD rear rack compatible with child seats and panniers, Curana Orbit 70 mudguards, and the integrated RX Connect GPS system with real-time tracking. Available in Slate Grey, sizes S, M and L.
