Description
The Giant Contend AR 1 is a disc-brake road bike designed for riders who want to cover real miles in real conditions. The ALUXX-Grade aluminium frame (6061 alloy) keeps weight down while maintaining the stiffness needed for efficient pedalling, and the Advanced-Grade Composite fork with full-composite steerer smooths out the road before it reaches your hands.
Shifting is handled by a full Shimano 105 2x12-speed groupset with an 11-36 cassette — a wide range that makes it easy to spin up long climbs without running out of gear on the flat. Stopping power comes from Shimano 105 hydraulic brakes paired with Giant MPH 160mm rotors front and rear, offering consistent modulation whether it's dry or pouring.
The Giant Gavia Fondo 2 tyres (700x32c, tubeless-compatible) can be run at lower pressures for a more forgiving ride and fewer punctures. Maximum tyre clearance of 38mm means there's room to go even wider if comfort is the priority. The Giant D-Fuse SL handlebar and D-Fuse composite seatpost work together to absorb road vibration over the long haul.
