Description
The Giant Defy Advanced 1 is an endurance road bike built for riders who want to cover serious distances without sacrificing comfort. Its Advanced-grade carbon frame, constructed using Modified Monocoque Construction for the front triangle, strikes a careful balance: rigid where it needs to transfer pedalling power, yet compliant enough to take the edge off rough or vibrating road surfaces over long hours in the saddle.
Shifting is handled by the fully electronic Shimano 105 Di2 12-speed groupset. A light touch on the lever triggers an instant, precise gear change — even under load on a climb. The 11-36 cassette provides a wide range of gears suitable for everything from rolling plains to steeper ascents.
The Advanced-grade carbon fork with a 12x100 mm thru-axle keeps steering precise and stable, while the Shimano 105 Di2 hydraulic disc brakes with 160 mm rotors front and rear deliver consistent braking regardless of conditions. The Giant P-R1 Disc wheelset — laced with Sapim spokes — arrives fitted with Giant Gavia Fondo 0 tubeless 700x32c tyres, ready to run tubeless out of the box for added puncture resistance and a smoother feel.
Details like the D-Fuse composite seatpost (14 mm offset) and the Contact SL D-Fuse handlebar further dampen road buzz, making the Defy Advanced 1 a natural choice for gran fondos, long weekend rides and roads that aren't always perfectly smooth.
