Description
The Merida MATTS J.20+ is a 20-inch kids' bike built like a small mountain bike: aluminium frame and fork, extra-wide 2.4-inch tyres and hydraulic disc brakes. At 9.47 kg it stays light enough for a child to handle with ease.
The frame is made from Racelite 61 aluminium (6061), the same alloy Merida uses on its adult bikes. The 20 x 2.4-inch CST Jet tyres deliver grip and cushioning on trails, while the rigid aluminium fork keeps the weight down. Stopping power comes from strong Tektro hydraulic disc brakes, with a 160 mm rotor up front and a 140 mm rotor at the rear.
The Shimano drivetrain offers 7 speeds: Altus shifter, RD-M310 rear derailleur and MF-TZ500 14-34T freewheel, paired with a 28-tooth chainring and child-sized 127 mm cranks. The cockpit uses Merida junior parts: 620 mm Expert JR handlebar, 60 mm stem and Comp JR saddle. The frame has mounting points for mudguards, a kickstand and a rear rack. Colour: black (silver). Maximum permitted load: 80 kg, including bike, rider and luggage.
